This vacancy is located in the Iberville Parish Child Welfare Office in Plaquemine, LA (Child Protection Investigation Unit)
This position primarily exercises direct supervision over a unit of first-line Child Welfare Specialists providing services in the CPS program in line with the agency mission and goals. Minimum Qualifications
Six years of experience in child welfare; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in child welfare; OR
A bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience in child welfare; OR
An advanced degree in a social science or behavioral health field, nursing, or a juris doctorate plus two years of experience in child welfare.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
A current driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
NOTE:
The incumbent of this position must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in
R.S. 15.587.1
(c).

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:

Guides employees in the assessment of services or placement needs of clients, the development of psychosocial assessment of case goals/objectives and/or case plans for clients and their families, and the implementation of the case plan.
Reviews child protection complaints and assigns investigations.
May serve as a consultant to other supervisors or employees.
May design and deliver training curricula or on-the-job training.
Approves the plan to request removal of children from the care and custody of their parents or caretakers to place them in agency custody, relative custody, or other alternative placement plans for the child.
Reviews recommendations of employees relative to the determination of the validity of abuse and/or neglect reports.
May lead family team conferences and multi-disciplinary team staffings for case plans/objectives which are formalized in a written contract form; case plans are reviewed with clients, their family, and community resource partners.
May act as a parish manager in assuming responsibility for administrative functions.
Gathers and analyzes data in order to design and implement recruitment campaigns to recruit potential adoptive and foster family resources to meet the placement needs of children in agency custody.
Reviews and approves foster and adoptive home certifications and adoptive placements.
May supervise quality assurance staff engaged in conducting case reviews and providing Quality Assurance consultations.

Child Welfare Supervisor:
$26.91/hr.
This position may be filled as a probational appointment or a job appointment that may last up to 48 months. Job appointments may convert to probational appointments. Also, it may be filled as a detail and promoted within 12 months or by promotion of a classified permanent employee.
