Job Description

Short Term Respite Coordinator Gulf Coast Social Services (Lafayette/Opelousas/Breaux Bridge, RegionIV) 315 South College Road, Lafayette, LA 70503 The Lafayette regional office is seeking Short Term Respite Coordinator. The Coordinator will coordinate the service delivery to a specified number of youth within the Short Term Respite Program, under the direction of the Program Director. The Coordinator is responsible for implementing and ensuring that program youth/families receive their individual services, as outlined in each youth’s services plan. Assist the Program Director with recruiting, hiring, training, and provide direct supervision to one-to-one Short Term Respite Program staff, evaluate the job performance of each staff and to ensure that one-to-one staff servicing youth with emotional or behavioral disorders in the community (parks, libraries, recreational outings) or in the youth’s home. The Short Term Respite program is designed to give the primary caregivers of youth with emotional, mental or behavioral disorders brief periods of respite (3 – 4 hours) in order for the caregiver to relax, rejuvenate, or attend to personal needs. Services are usually delivered after school hours and weekends. The position requires a Bachelor’s in a human services field with a minimum of one year human services experience. Also, a minimum of two (2) year experience working in human services, child care, education or a related field. Applicant must pass a drug test, TB screening, Criminal Record Background Check and LA Motor Vehicle Record Check, have a valid Louisiana’s Driver’s License, current auto liability insurance, and have access to a reliable vehicle in a safe operating condition with current inspection stickers.
