The New Orleans Youth Assessment Center (NOYAC) will provide a community based single point of entry services to systems impacted youth at risk for juvenile justice engagement, as well as youth who might benefit from prevention and early intervention services to prevent or deter juvenile justice engagement. We are seeking dedicated and compassionate resource navigators who will support youth and families served by the program with identifying and accessing needed services and/or programs to facilitate positive youth development and redirection from juvenile justice systems engagement. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in resource connection, knowledge of community resources that serves youth and families in New Orleans specifically, general knowledge about child welfare and juvenile justice systems, and ability to build community connections and partnerships in the New Orleans Metropolitan area. S ome basic skills in data entry, documentation, and written and verbal professional communication is needed. Responsibilities Facilitate communication between families and service providers to ensure that children’s needs are met effectively. Make referrals to appropriate community-based services, including mental health, substance abuse treatment, educational support, and family services. Monitor client progress and work with connected service providers through regular contact with youth, families, and service providers. Collaborate with the program social workers and other relevant stakeholders to develop case management plan and service agreement. Conduct outreach to families and the community to educate them about available resources and services in the community. Participate in training and professional development relevant to youth services and case management. Attend court hearings and provide case updates as needed. Provide support to the social worker during intake and screening process for services as needed Manage conflicts that may arise during interactions with families or service providers, ensuring a resolution that prioritizes the welfare of the youth and family being served. Maintain accurate documentation including progress notes in compliance with confidentiality standards and time requirements of organization. Input required data in program information and management system in timely manner. Participate in collaborative team conferences between the program and community partners to support continuity of care and care coordination for youth and families served by the program. Transport youth as needed
Qualifications Preferred:
Associates degree in social work, youth development, psychology, education, or a related field is preferred.
Will Consider:
High school diploma with 3 years work experience minimum in child, youth and families programs is acceptable. If Associates degree, minimum 2 years of experience working with children, youth and families in various child, youth and families programs. Valid Driver’s License Clean background check
Preferred Skills:
Strong knowledge of resource linkage/connection, development, and coordination. Strong skills in community outreach and collaboration. Conflict resolution, crisis management a plus for the role. Familiarity with behavioral health issues affecting children and families. Some understanding of child protection, positive youth development, and juvenile justice system. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly with diverse populations including clients, colleagues, and community partners/stakeholders. Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation practices. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
