GENERAL DUTIES
Plans, develops and coordinates Social Services Department functions:
- Works with the leader(s) on planning and implementation of the department budget.
- Organizes, prioritizes and responds to tasks requested by hospital administration and medical personnel.
- Completes departmental projects which increase the efficiency of the staff.
- Establishes and reviews departmental policy and procedures.
- Maintains and upholds all hospital policies.
- Directs the purchase of all departmental supplies and equipment.
- Conducts departmental staff meetings.
Supervises clinical staff in accordance with the standards set up by the
Department of Social Services:
- Orients, trains and clinically supervises professional social work staff and clinical personnel utilizing standards set up by the department.
Establishes departmental needs, goals and plans in collaboration with department leader(s): - Works with the leader on planning and implementation of the department budget.
Assures the highest quality of intervention to patients: - Evaluates high risk injuries to identify child abuse/neglect and make referrals to the authorities to ensure children are properly cared for.
- Assures proper charting of department activity in medical records.
- Participates in multidisciplinary clinical teams as requested.
- Encourages staff to develop programs/groups to assist the patients and their families in understanding, accepting the diagnosis and thriving.
- Identifies patient needs and develops programs to meet those needs.
- Participates in professional organizations, seminars and conferences to get acquainted with new developments in the field.
Participates in Utilization Review, Quality Assurance and other hospital committee activities as needed: - Oversees chaplain and maintains budget for chaplaincy contract.
- Oversees the language interpretation contracts.
EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
4-5 years of experience Post LCSW with 2 years supervisory
- clinical and managerial (CHNOLA/WJMC)
