This position involves working closely with students, parents, and staff to create a safe and nurturing environment that promotes student well-being and success. The School Social Worker/Counselor will provide guidance, support, and resources to help students navigate their educational journey and personal challenges. Responsibilities Provide individual and group counseling to students addressing academic, social, and emotional issues. Develop and implement programs that promote positive behavior and mental health awareness. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to identify student needs and develop appropriate interventions. Conduct assessments to evaluate students’ needs and monitor their progress. Facilitate crisis intervention services for students in need of immediate support. Educate students on topics such as conflict resolution, stress management, and decision-making skills. Maintain accurate records while ensuring confidentiality. Advocate for the welfare of students by connecting their families with community resources. Skills Strong background in social work, counseling or behavioral health is preferred. Proficient in crisis management techniques to effectively handle emergencies or critical situations. Experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable. Experience working with children with disabilites is preferred. Ability to manage conflicts effectively through mediation and negotiation skills. Knowledge of child welfare policies and practices to ensure the safety of all students. Excellent communication skills for educating students, parents, and staff about available resources and support systems. Compassionate approach towards helping students overcome personal challenges while fostering resilience. This role requires a dedicated individual who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of students through guidance, support, and advocacy.
