This Family Support Specialist / Case Manager position earns a competitive starting salary of $46,500-48,500 a year, with an additional stipend for on-call. HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Utilizing intervention to strengthen protective factors, the family support specialist performs home visits to mediate and support families in resolving conflicts. You monitor the safety of children in the home and during supervised family visitation. To enhance their capacity to care for their children, you support parents on increasing their parenting skills, advocacy skills and support networks. You also provide case management, including information about and referrals to additional resources or after-care services. With attention to detail, you keep up-to-date and accurate records. Because of your dedication, we are able to continue this exceptional program that benefits families in our community by developing and nurturing safe, permanent relationships!
Organizes and manages a caseload of families and children referred by Department of Children and Families or other community providers
Collaborates with parents, children, DCF staff, Lead Agencies, community resources and Bridges Homeward staff in developing plans specifying resources and services needed, making referrals, and monitoring service provision
Provide in-home crisis response aimed at stabilizing the family
Provide a range of interventions aimed at supporting family capacity to safely care for children in order to prevent out-of-home placement of children and youth, or to support return of children and youth to their families
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A FAMILY SUPPORT SPECIALIST / CASE MANAGER
Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, psychology, education, or a related field or high school degree and 5 years related experience
One year of experience providing case management or counseling services to children, adolescents, and families
Valid driver’s license and properly insured vehicle
Willingness to transport clients
Bilingual candidates are needed for this position. There is an exceptional need for Spanish and Haitian Creole speaking professionals at this time. Experience in child welfare services and working with pregnant or parenting teens or young adults is preferred but multiple factors will be taken into consideration.
