Waltham High School
Waltham High School is a comprehensive urban high school with approximately 1800 students and 200 staff members. Educational programs include college prep, over 30 Advanced Placement courses, and 14 Chapter 74 CTE programs.
Waltham Public Schools is looking for a skilled practitioner with experience and training in restorative practices. This role is responsible for delivering academic, behavioral, and disciplinary interventions in reset/restoration spaces which includes supporting students who have been assigned internal suspensions. The goal is to reduce out-of-school suspensions, improve school climate, and ensure that academically struggling students stay engaged in instruction. While the overarching aim is to foster safe and affirming learning environments, the following objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) guide the work:
Qualifications/Skills/Abilities of the

Ideal Candidate Include:

Background and training in restorative practices
Background and training in Social Emotional Support curriculum and training for students
Experience working in a diverse school community
Ability to Promote restorative practices school-wide to strengthen relationships and build a supportive community.
Ability to design and deliver targeted curriculum tied to student behaviors that builds the skills and tools of students to not re-engage in the targeted behavior
Knowledge of MTSS and Tier 1 behavioral interventions Knowledge and experience with implementation of equity-centered strategies, SEL competencies, and PBIS
Ability to provide academic support while students are in the Restorative Justice Center
Ability to deliver targeted support to students requiring more intensive behavioral interventions

Essential Duties:

Supervise and support instructional and behavioral activities in reset/restoration spaces
Coordinate assignments and provide tutorial assistance for referred students
Guide students in reflecting on misbehavior and developing positive strategies
Assist with development and implementation of equity-focused classroom practices, restorative approaches, PBIS, and SEL
Collaborate with school administration and staff to understand and support student needs
Participate in conferences with families to review student progress
Participate in training, workshops, and conferences to enhance professional skills
Assist the administration in developing options for restorative practices and a procedure for determining when these options will replace detention and suspensions;
Maintain accurate student records per legal and district standards
Additional tasks assigned by the principal

Required Qualifications:

Education, Training and Experience
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Certification as a counselor, teacher and/or administrator by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Demonstrated competencies in secondary education at the middle and high school levels.
At least five (5) years experience in the field of public education
