Job Description:
This particular job posting is a “Pool” position. There may or may not be available openings at this time however, when an opening does occur, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants we have on file on an as needed basis. Applicants for positions will not be notified of their status unless they are contacted to come in for an interview, which might occur soon after applying or as much as a year later.
General Statement of Duties:
Child Watch Staff Member will work closely with Child Watch Team Leader to create a safe and nurturing space in the Child Watch. Child Watch Staff Member, under the guidance of the Child Watch Team Leader, will help to create activities for children, and maintain a safe environment. Hours are flexible based on need not to exceed 18 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct supervision of children ages 6 months to 14 years in the MWCC Child Watch program;
Ensure that children are safe and needs are met;
Oversee all age appropriate Child Watch activities while encouraging social and learning play;
Support and advocate for the student-parents family needs in order to assist the parent to continue and complete college;
Engage with children through play, arts and crafts, reading, etc.;
Keep children safe and establish ground rules to Child Watch etiquette;
Clean and tidy room periodically while children are in the room, and after children leave;
Keep in communication with Child Watch Team Leader and/or Coordinator of Student Parent Supports of needs and concerns of students
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent or current student at MWCC; Experience caring for children aged 6 months and older
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience of working with children under 7 years old;
Strong written and oral communication skills
Desired Qualifications:
Experience working with children with Autism
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Bilingual language skills (English/Spanish Equivalency Statement Applicants who do not meet the qualifications as stated above are encouraged to put in writing precisely how their background and experience have prepared them with the equivalent combination of education, training and experience required for the responsibilities of this position.
