Until a suitable candidate is foundThe Kittery School District is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Outreach & Services Coordinator to serve students and staff across all three of our district schools. This unique role expands beyond the traditional scope of school counseling, focusing on broad-based responsibilities to support student success and well-being.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Addressing substance use and abuse concerns and providing related support.
Supporting homeless students and their families in compliance with the McKinney-Vento Act.
Delivering professional development to district staff on mental health topics.
Conducting family outreach and home visits for students at risk, with a focus on bridging the gap between home and school.
Tackling chronic absenteeism by developing and implementing intervention strategies.
Collaborating with district school counselors, providing both formal and informal consultation primarily on student mental health-related issues.
Serving as a liaison between the district and community-based agencies to ensure students and families have access to necessary resources.
Qualifications:
Valid Maine Department of Education 075 certification or equivalent/related certification required.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Experience in addressing mental health, substance abuse, homelessness, and chronic absenteeism is highly desirable.
Ability to work effectively with students, families, staff, and community-based organizations.
Experience working in a school-based setting strongly preferred
Position Details:
Reports to the Director of Curriculum.
Engages in ongoing informal evaluation and receives an annual formal evaluation by the Director of Curriculum.
Serves all three district schools.
This is a school-year position based on the districts 184-day collective bargaining agreement, with opportunities to work beyond the school year.
Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
