School-Based Social Worker Community Partnership of the Ozarks, Inc. 330 N Jefferson Ave, Springfield, MO 65806

Job Summary:

This professional position is responsible for promoting and supporting the academic and social success of children within the Springfield Public School System by creating a systems approach to advocating for their educational, emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing. The School-Based Social Worker will work collaboratively with school staff to assess the needs of students and their families and coordinate intervention services through crisis intervention and support, advocacy, resource referral and connection, and case management services.

Evaluation:

The Director of School-Based Social Work, following adopted policies of Community Partnership of the Ozarks, evaluates the School-Based Social Worker.

Position Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in social work required from an accredited college or university; Three years of professional social work experience preferred; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal); Ability to work independently and within a team setting; Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining good organizational skills; Analytical skills including critical thinking, problem solving and prioritizing information; Strong data collection, tracking and reporting skills; Ability to meet deadlines; Excellent follow up and follow through; Flexible and resourceful when dealing with ever-changing situations; Strong knowledge of local/community resources; Punctuality and good attendance; Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter; Computer and internet literate (Microsoft Office, Teams and Google); Comfortable working with diverse groups and families; Ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative partnerships across the community; Public speaking/facilitation skills; Student/intern supervision experience preferred; Ability to deal with and respond to crisis situations; Experience working in racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse communities; Ability to work some evenings and weekends.

Essential Job Functions:

Positively and professionally represent Community Partnership of the Ozarks in the community; Serve as a liaison between the school, family, and community in providing direct and indirect support for student’s school and personal success; Provide positive parent engagement and support through educational opportunities and peer groups; Collaborate with school staff, as part of an interdisciplinary team, to identify student/family needs and provide intervention services through crisis support, resource referrals, and case management; Conduct home and school visits with families to assess home life/needs; Consult with school staff to heighten awareness of and sensitivity to problems in student performance and changes in student behavior when problems are identified; Conduct social and skill building groups as needed to support a student’s social and emotional learning; Prepare and maintain written client documentation of home and school visits, referrals made, services provided and outcomes on a monthly basis; Inform and empower students and families to get involved in community engagement opportunities to serve as agents of change, make sure their voices are heard and to create new connections; Distribute and track emergency assistance fund budget for your designated school/s; Provide oversight and supervision of Social Work interns from local and online universities; Attend staff, operational, and other community meetings as assigned/as are beneficial to the position; Travel within the community to meet position requirements such as attending meetings and home visits; Prepare and submit monthly reports and in-kind; Participate in relevant professional development and training opportunities; Participate in Community Partnership of the Ozarks resource development/fundraising activities; Other duties as assigned

Reporting Structure:

The School-Based Social Worker reports to the Director of School-Based Social Work.

Position Clarification:

The position of School-Based Social Worker is a grant-funded position and is based upon funding availability. The job duties are subject to change, based on funding requirements. This is an exempt, full-time position. Grant funding dictates the pay range for this position. CPO receives federal grants and contracts and therefore must comply with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988.
