SUMMARY:

The Family Engagement Specialist supports the district’s efforts to actively engage families and community members in district activities.

REPORTS TO

The Director of Student Support Services

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Case management – includes assessing family’s strengths and needs Establishing volunteer opportunities Develop and organize family programs Coordinate social services Provide educational opportunities regarding family well-being, child development and school readiness Accurately complete documentation related to family engagement efforts, activities, and support services Manage the program’s database and files Connects families and agencies throughout the community Promote the Riverview Gardens School District Parent Resource Lab Promote improvement initiatives Assist in building a strong Parent Association Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the above noted essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. A minimum of 60 College Hours, required. Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field, preferred A background in social work, human services, family services, counseling, psychology, education, sociology or workforce education, preferred Experience working with adult/parent education, experience working with low-income families, excellent oral and written skills and computer literate Valid driver’s license

Range on the District Clerical Salary Schedule – Scale III • Please note that this is a grant funded position, if the funds allocated for this position are eliminated, the position itself is also required to be eliminated •
