This position will be located at Missouri School for the Blind, 3815 Magnolia Ave., St. Louis, MO 63110 Why you’ll love this position: The Lead Parent Advisor provides for statewide parent training services and in-home parent education through parent advisors to parents of children with vision impairment/blindness with or without concomitant disabilities (birth – 5). What you’ll do: Recruit, train, supervise, and support MoSPIN parent advisors Continually disseminate information about MoSPIN program to increase families in MoSPIN Collaborate with Part C and Part B programs for early identification, family support services, and transitioning Present to potential referring agencies regarding identification, referral and census on a continual basis Attend the Trainer Training for VIISA and INSITE (Date/location TBD) possibly Aug 4-7, Montana School for the Blind Co-instruction of the INSITE course and all other Outreach trainings Collaborate with Family Engagement Coordinator for family events Attend local and state Interagency Coordinating Council meetings and Office of Childhood meetings Assist with the collection of evaluation data on family technical assistance, training, and MoSPIN program surveys Participate and present at the Deafblind Advisory Committee Provide regular conferences/webinars/virtual meetings and in person trainings to families Help families connect with other families of children who have sensory impairments including family mentoring
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited college or university in special education Experience working with young children with disabilities Experience working with families Lack of post‐secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.
