QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required, associate degree or higher preferred. Ability to speak, understand, read, and write fluently in both English and Spanish. Experience in translating/interpreting preferred. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and cultural backgrounds.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, or a related field. Experience working with EL parents and families or in a school setting. Experience in translation and interpretation. Knowledge of community resources in the service area.

JOB GOALS
To support: the academic and social-emotional success of ELs by fostering strong partnerships between the schools and families. parents and families with limited English in communicating more effectively, assimilating into the District and locating needed resources.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Communication and Outreach :
Act as a primary point of contact for EL families, providing clear and accessible information about school programs, resources, and policies. Translate and interpret school materials (e.g., notices, letters, newsletters) into Spanish for EL families. Conduct regular outreach to EL families – phone calls, and emails. Facilitate communication between school staff and EL families, ensuring effective collaboration. Interprets orally from English to Spanish and other languages as needed and from Spanish to English during conferences, registration, telephone calls, testing, information gathering from other school districts, emergency situations, etc.
Parent and Family Engagement:
Encourage and support parents to be involved in their children’s education, through school events, parent-teacher conferences, and advisory committees. Provide resources and training for EL parents on how to support their children’s learning at home. Collaborate with teachers and school staff to develop and implement parent and family engagement strategies.
Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with school staff, including teachers, counselors, and administrators, to support ELs. Participate in school meetings and professional development opportunities related to EL services.
Other Responsibilities:
Assists with maintaining records on students who are ELs, non-native speakers, and immigrants. Creates and maintains a list of resources and agencies assisting communities with limited English.
