Bi-Lingual EHS Family Resource Educator

Full Time:

40 hours per week

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

Serve as family resource educator/home visitor for 10-12 Early Head Start families and children.
(40 hours per week)
(This position is contingent upon receipt of funding.)

Director of Early Childhood Education

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL

JOB FUNCTIONS

Bi-Lingual in English & Spanish preferred
Serve 10-12 families or children zero to age 3 with services provided at convenient times for families to potentially include evenings. Conduct home visits 90 minutes per week Provide parents guidance on home safety, nutrition, effective discipline, play activities and other related topics. Develop and implement Family Partnership Agreements with all families on the caseload. Assist with coordinating doctor, dental visit and other community needs identified by families, including providing transportation when necessary.
Coordinate with families documentation of in-kind services to include donated materials, volunteer time, etc.
Learn, interpret and implement the Early Head Start and Parents as Teachers standards.
Conduct developmental screenings and assessments as needed and coordinate referrals and linkages to additional resources as needed.
Ensures all screenings are completed in a timely manner.
Provide direct case management for children and families as needed to address developmental and interpersonal difficulties. Directly connect families with resources related to mental health needs.
Develop, implement and/or coordinate socialization activities with EHS staff Assist in providing coverage in socialization room
Assist with maintaining an inventory of parent resource materials and coordinating family check-out procedures of resource materials.
Maintain and promptly submit accurate, complete and correct records as required by federal/state guidelines, district policy and administrative regulations.
Display continuous quality improvement, by maintaining applicable professional credentials, staying abreast of evidence-based practices in his/her field and sharing information with other staff members in a proactive and helpful manner.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform any other work related duties as assigned.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND COMPETENCIES

Knowledge of early childhood development. Extensive knowledge of comprehensive child development services. Ability to successfully interact with a diverse population displaying both linguistic and cultural competence. Ability to manage time efficiently and effectively.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and/or related field.
Knowledge of early childhood development with a focus on zero to three years of age.
Experience working with families and children
Valid NC Driver’s License
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook software, or the equivalent.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
