Social Work :
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Screening/Assessment
- The social worker will develop an assessment of the Veteran in collaborion with the interdisciplinary trement team, the Veteran, family members and significant others, whenever possible.
The goal of the assessment is to highlight the Veteran’s strengths, limitions, and internal/external supports and service needs in order to optimize the Veteran’s functional stus and safely maintain the Veteran in his/her home. It is the responsibility of the social worker, working within the interdisciplinary trement team, to develop a trement plan with the Veteran based on this assessment. Psychotherapy
- Social worker will provide the Veteran with individual and group psychotherapy uniquely tailored to meet the needs of the Veteran. The purpose of such therapy is to focus of the unique needs of the Veteran, address personal trauma and or needs. Trement Planning/Goal Setting
- The social worker is responsible for developing the trement plan, and setting achievable trement goals with the Veteran/family in collaborion with the interdisciplinary trement team members.
The social worker will include psychosocial problems onto the interdisciplinary trement plan, will tend weekly interdisciplinary care planning meetings; ongoing assessments and will upde trement plans when necessary or as health stus changes. Social workers will address the unique needs of the chronically mentally ill, frail, disabled Veteran. Administrive responsibilities
- The social worker will enter all Veteran/family contacts in the electronic record using approprie forms and temples.
This informion entered in a complete, confidential, and professional manner to insure informion on the pient is shared with other VA staff. This informion reviewed on a regular basis. The social worker will establish and maintain positive working relionships with employees, volunteers, consumers and stakeholders within the VA and outside community agencies. Social Worker will tend all approprie staff meetings and perform other duties as required by Social Work Service. The social worker will collabore in the performance improvement processes and comply with performance measures as required by the VA for their specific populion and/or program. Social worker will participe in activities th obtain feedback from Veterans and work to enhance services as needed. This may include coverage responsibilities in the absence of other staff to ensure timely access and coordinion of care.

Pay:
Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step re of the approprie grade may be determined after considerion of higher or unique qualificions or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Re of the Grade).
Paid Time Off:
37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
Parental Leave:
After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.

Qualificions Basic Requirements:
Citizenship

- You must possess a master’s degree in Social Work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Educion (CSWE).

A doctoral degree in Social Work may NOT be substituted for the master’s degree in Social Work. License or Certificion
- You must be licensed or certified by a ste to independently practice social work the master’s degree level.
- Exception
- For assignments the GS-9 level, VHA may waive the licensure or certificion requirement for persons who are otherwise qualified, pending completion of ste prerequisites for licensure/certificion examinions.
VHA social workers who are not licensed or certified the time of appointment must become licensed or certified the independent, master’s level within three years of their appointment as a social worker. Grandfher Provision. A Social Worker employed in VHA on the effective de of the qualificion standard (9/10/2019) who did not meet all the basic requirements in this standard, but who met the qualificions applicable to the position the time they were appointed, the following provisions apply: Employees may be reassigned, promoted up to and including the full performance (journey) level or changed to lower grade within the occupion but may not be promoted beyond the journeyman level or placed in supervisory or managerial positions. Employees in an occupion th requires a licensure/certificion/ registrion only higher grade levels must meet the licensure/ certificion/registrion requirement before they can be promoted to those higher grade levels. Ability to implement trement modalities in working with individuals, families, and groups to achieve trement goals. This requires judgment and skill in utilizing supportive, problem solving, or crisis intervention techniques. Experience or Educion Requirement:
In addition to meeting the basic requirements, to qualify for the GS-11, you must possess a minimum of one year of post-MSW experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the field of health care or other social work-reled settings, (VA or non
- VA experience) and licensure or certificion in a ste the independent practice level.
Examples of specialized experience include but are not limited to: Working under close supervision in program areas th do not require specialized knowledge or experience. Identifying behaviors or symptoms of abuse, neglect or exploition; providing educion on advance directives and advanced care planning; providing social work case management; acting as an pient/family member/caregiver advoce with community service providers/agencies; assessing the psychosocial functioning and needs of pients and their family members. In collaborion with the pient, family, and interdisciplinary trement teams, identifying strengths, weaknesses, coping skills and psychosocial acuity. Maintaining a current network of internal and external resources to educe the pient and/or family members/caregivers and assist with approprie referrals.
- OR•a doctoral degree in social work from a school of social work may be substituted for the required one year of professional social work experience in a clinical setting.

Knowledge of community resources, how to make approprie referrals to community and other governmental agencies for services, and ability to coordine services.
