Job Summary:
The Youth & Children’s Ministry Coordinator will help lead and support the spiritual development of children from ages three through high school. This role focuses on creating a welcoming and engaging environment that fosters children’s faith formation and connects them to the greater work of the church. This role will provide administrative support for both youth & children’s ministries, and will have primary responsibility for one of these groups based on the applicant’s gifts and experience.
Qualifications:
Minimum of three years of experience working with children’s or youth ministry OR teaching children or youth Experience working with and managing volunteers ELCA Lutheran background/church staff experience preferred but not required Skills/Abilities Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a variety of people Strong verbal & written communication skills Flexible work schedule (often including nights & weekends, especially Sundays) Passion for working with children/youth & nurturing their spiritual growth Creativity, organizational skills, and professionalism
Physical Requirements:
Physically able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds, and work indoors or outdoors Able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children, see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in physical activity with children A valid NC driver’s license, a good driving record & willingness to be responsible for driving youth as necessary Successful completion of a background check
