Description Gaston Social Services:
Protecting, caring for, and empowering children and adults who are temporarily or permanently unable to care for themselves through the administration of federal, state, and county programs focused on improving the well-being of our citizens Examples of Duties The duties listed below are not all of the duties that may be assigned but are those that are considered as essential for an employee to perform. Assists in completing foster care and adult and aging services home visits in compliance with state statutes and corresponding operating policies and procedures. Assists in the completion of collateral contacts under the supervision of senior social workers. Assists clients in accessing services, providing assistance with program applications, and monitoring participation/progress. Participate in scheduled individual supervision, unit/team staffings, monthly departmental meetings, and complete local, professional development, and state-mandated trainings. Provides adults and children with emotional support when dealing with changes in their environment—reports and documents any information, observation of behavior, or interaction with them that may be helpful. Testifies in court to give observations. Complete and submit all assigned documentation, such as narratives, home visit reports, and any other documentation, in a timely manner. Builds collaborative relationships with outside agencies. Assist with coordinating, arranging, and providing transportation for LINKS events. Assist in transporting and accompanying both adults and youth to appointments to help achieve their goals. Prepares, maintains, and submits reports of observations and time spent providing services as required. Attends case conferences and other meetings as assigned. Must be available to work mandatory emergency shelters & other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university. A minimum of one year of relevant work experience in customer service or a closely related field is required. Prior experience working in a social services context is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, robust problem-solving and organizational proficiencies, strict confidentiality, and a high ethical standard at all times. A copy of your college transcript must be included with the application. Failure to attach your transcripts to your application will result in your application being rejected.
