Description:

The Adult Services worker is assigned cases due to the area of specialty in Adult Services. This workers area of responsibility includes working with individuals who may be indigent, aged, disabled, handicapped (mentally, emotionally or physically), developmentally delayed, chronically or terminally ill, abused, neglected, exploited, dependent and at risk. Referrals are received from all sources, including co-workers, self-referral by individuals, family, friends, relative, hospitals, other social workers, mental health, doctors, nurses, home health, law enforcement and others. This worker works independently to provide intake information to assess and evaluate the risk of the individual, the needs of the individual and/or family and determines the available support and resources in the community to help meet client needs. In difficult or questionable cases, worker has conferences with the Adult Services Supervisor and/or Director. The Adult Services worker develops treatment plans and goals for each individual or group based upon the evaluation and assessment of needs. Due to various types of individual prospective clients, this worker aims at appropriate short-term goals with the main goal of helping clients to regain or to achieve and to maintain their highest level of independence and functioning. As stated in all service plans, goals are aimed at helping client to maintain, strengthen and safeguard their care and environment.

• Education and Experience
• Master’s Degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work experience; or a Bachelor’s Degreefrom an accredited school of social work and two years experience of social work or counseling experience; or a Master’s Degree in a counseling field and two years of social work or counseling experience; or graduation from a four-year college or university and four years experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling or a related human service field providing experience in the techniques of casework, group work or community organization; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
