Income Maintenance Caseworker II- Work FIrst/Child Care Subsidy 3.6 3.6 out of 5 stars 408 Summit Drive, Sanford, NC 27330
General Definition of Work:
This position is assigned to administer the eligibility process for the Work First Family Assistance and Subsidized Child Care Assistance program areas. Duties include interviewing applicants, completion of assessments, determining and re-determining eligibility, completing employment services activities, and reacting to changes in circumstances utilizing the North Carolina Families Accessing Services through Technology (NCFAST) system. The ability to communicate well with external organizations such as childcare providers, employers, schools, etc. and internal staff from other program units within DSS is essential to obtain all information necessary to make appropriate eligibility determinations. This position works with employed applicants, applicants needing employment, students, Child Welfare clients and Food and Nutrition clients. This position will also serve as back-up for taking and processing applications for the Energy Assistance Programs, as needed, and is required to perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Participation in Shelter Management is required in the event of emergencies or disasters. This service, if required, will take precedence over duties described in this position vacancy announcement. This position is required to perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor and could be subject to overtime which is given in the form of compensatory time.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Considerable knowledge of the program/areas of assignment. General knowledge of all agency and community programs and services which could affect the client/applicant. Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures. Ability to communicate with clients/applicants, the public at large, and public officials to obtain data, and to explain and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures. Ability to instruct and to evaluate the work of lower-level employees. Ability to perform caseworker functions within structured time frames.
Education and Experience:
One year experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker.
