Closing Date 06/02/2025 General Definition of Work The Title IV social worker, under general supervision, performs professional work related to Student Support Services to students from a school social work perspective. This includes establishing home, community, and school linkages, supporting students’ behavioral, social, and emotional needs, providing counseling, consulting with teaching and administrative staff, and reducing barriers that may prevent students from attending school. This position also provides high-quality professional development to school-based social workers and other staff with the goal of building each school’s capacity to deliver supportive services to students and families. This position is responsible for providing supportive services from a social work perspective to students and families in grades K-12. This position provides services that strengthen home, school, and community partnerships and support schools in addressing barriers to developing a healthy, safe, and caring environment. This is done by advancing the understanding of the emotional and social development of children and the influences of family, community, and cultural differences on student success along with the implementation of effective intervention strategies. Essential Functions Works with schools to establish home, community, and school linkages, supporting students’ behavioral, social, and emotional needs, providing counseling, consulting with teaching and administrative staff, and reducing barriers that may prevent students from attending school and/or graduating.
Working knowledge of appropriate strategies for positively impacting cohort graduation rates
Ability to analyze, develop, implement, and track effective specific intervention plans and strategies
Must have an understanding of the multiplicity of social services available in the community to support students at risk of not attending school
Support schools in ensuring that attendance records are promptly delivered to families and maintaining accurate documentation.
Provide schools with support for interventions for students who are or might become chronically absent.
Collaborate with the school registrar to streamline processes, enabling seamless support for students and families by proactively addressing any obstacles they may encounter
Participate in records audits and engaging in post-conferences with Principals to optimize support strategies for students with truancy concerns
Works with school teams to develop and implement strategies to increase the likelihood that students at risk of dropping out will stay in school and graduate
Provide training to schools incorporating attendance into accountability systems and school improvement plans and investing in systems that can track attendance in real-time and provide interventions for students who are or might become chronically absent.
Contributes to identifying and intervening in student attendance concerns
Works with school staff to develop graduation and achievement plans for to meet academic and career-college readiness goals
Develops workshops schools to use for parents meetings and training
Serves as a liaison between the Student Support Services and all schools
Collaborate with school leaders, counselors, social workers, and teachers to develop systemic strategies to identify and support students.
Support schools with tracking the progress of students as they progress toward graduation
Collaborates with other support team members and school personnel to serve students from a multi-tiered perspective
Demonstrates leadership by providing services that contribute to a positive school climate, advocating for positive changes in school policies and practices and being a model for ethical professional practice
Facilitates relevant internal and external partnerships that support the school and district’s mission
Enhances the professional capacity of school personnel through consultation and support
Embraces work with diverse populations and demonstrates cultural sensitivity
Consults of the completion of social/developmental histories for students being evaluated for Exceptional Children’s Services
Provides responsive crisis support services at the individual, school, and district level when needed
Documents services provided via the required electronic system and reflects on practice to make necessary adjustments
