In the intake function, the employee is responsible for obtaining all pertinent data concerning the clients’ family composition, financial, employment and/or health status.
In the processing function, the employee is involved in processing clients’ application through the verification of all information obtained during intake.
In the review function, work involves the re-determination or review of the clients’ case on a periodic basis, in order to re-verify the clients’ eligibility for continued participation in the various services.
Major duties include document completion, verification, problem identification and resolution; statistical, financial, and/or other record keeping; public contact including receiving and providing information and problem solving; files maintenance and management; composition, calculation, and determination of an action or compliance; and office equipment operation. Work may require the use of a variety of manual or automated office systems. These systems are used to establish, retrieve, verify, research, update and/or authorize actions.
Work includes such tasks as: Interviewing of clients and/or reviewing other forms of media including electronically collected data to obtain required information.
Entering information into logs, databases, web-based applications, or other electronic media to complete initial applications and verify the information obtained.
Determining and/or verifying eligibility for the services being evaluated.
Completing scheduled reviews by obtaining required information and processing updated information.
Explaining requirements and options for obtaining the services and advise or refer clients to other services as appropriate.
Approval of services and completion of authorization documents for eligible clients.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Minimum Training and Experience Requirements for an Income Maintenance Caseworker I – Graduation from an accredited associate degreeprogram in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, BusinessAdministration, Secretarial Science, or a closely related curriculum; or graduation from high school andtwo years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which included negotiating,interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, analysis of data and/orperformance of mathematical or legal tasks with at least one year of such experience being in anincome maintenance program; or graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional,clerical or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaininginformation, the gathering and compiling of data, the analysis of data and/or the performance ofmathematical or legal tasks; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
