Family Support Assistant Family Promise of Scotland County 402 A South Caledonia Road, Laurinburg, NC 28352 Overview Family Promise of Scotland County is a transitional housing center for families experiencing homelessness. The program serves fathers, mothers, and guardians with children. The Family Support Assistant will work with the Executive Director to support the families with the goal of transitioning to sustainable independent housing. Candidates with social work and/or nonprofit organization experience are encouraged to apply. This is a position for a candidate who is extremely dependable, organized, and has a positive attitude. Duties Help support up to six families in the center by working alongside the Executive Director to meet program goals. Provide support for each family by finding outside services that are needed – making appropriate contact with community services/transportation, etc. Assist families in completing the required applications – Housing Authority, Section 8, Medicaid, day vouchers, registering children in school, etc. Guide each family to stay on their timeline and meet deadlines. Document interactions and meetings with each family and keep the Executive Director informed regularly of changes. Support the center rules, regulations, and guidelines by addressing each family and volunteers in a professional and sensitive manner. Inform the families of community events and encourage participation. Advocate for our families and the homeless community Participate in periodic training, fundraisers, and events Always practice extreme confidentiality Skills Proficient in conflict management techniques to mediate disputes within families. Knowledge of crisis management strategies to effectively support families during emergencies. Understanding of behavioral health issues affecting children and families. Strong crisis intervention skills to address urgent family situations compassionately and effectively. This role requires a dedicated individual who is passionate about supporting families through effective interventions and resource connections.
