Franklin, Vance This is not a full time or part time job. This is more voluntary work, however accommodations can be made to help with fuel costs. Between 1-5 hours per week. TB Test and Background Check is required Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mentor to support and guide individuals, particularly children and those with disabilities, in their personal and educational development. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in special education, social work, or related fields, and will be committed to fostering a positive and nurturing environment. This role involves working closely with mentees to help them navigate challenges, develop skills, and achieve their goals. Responsibilities Provide one-on-one mentoring to children and individuals with disabilities, focusing on personal growth and educational achievement. Develop individualized plans that address the unique needs of each mentee, incorporating strategies for conflict management and behavioral health. Educate mentees on essential life skills, self-advocacy, and decision-making processes. Collaborate with families, educators, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for each mentee. Monitor progress and adjust mentoring strategies as needed to promote success. Facilitate group sessions that encourage peer interaction and support among mentees. Maintain accurate records of mentoring sessions and progress reports. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Social Work, Child Development, or a related field preferred but not required; Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities is highly desirable. Strong understanding of child welfare principles and practices. Excellent conflict management skills to effectively address challenges as they arise. Background in behavioral health is a plus. Ability to educate and inspire mentees through patience, empathy, and effective communication. Previous mentoring experience is beneficial but not required; a passion for helping others is essential. Must be able to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
