POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Sr. Membership Director and in accordance with the policies of the YMCA of the Triangle, the Family Engagement Director is responsible for family engagement for his/her assigned branch. This position will work with the Sr. Membership Director and other branch staff members to strengthen relationships between the Y and families by assisting with organizing, implementing and developing the family engagement opportunities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Oversees, supports all aspects of the Kid’s Zone program for the branch including; hiring and onboarding new staff, providing continuous training for staff, and building morale amongst the staff. Working direct service one morning and one afternoon shift each weekday and at least one weekend per month. Additional shifts may be required as needed. Creates age-appropriate programming within each Kid Zone classroom. Schedule and staffs one Parent Night out event per month for Kid Zone families. Builds strong, trusting relationships with families through empathetic communication and a nurturing approach. Oversees, supports Kinder/ Wee summer camp program. Supports site coordinator in operation of camp. Partners with colleagues within the organization (branch, region and Association-wide) to implement cross-branch/cross-department quality experiences for families to spend time together, be active together and serve together. Fully supports, actively promotes participation in and provides collaborative leadership/partnership in key Finley signature family events: Reindeer Run , Easter Egg Dive, Back to School Bash, and works closely with the branch MET team to create additional family events . Collaborates with parents, program staff, and community partners to develop and implement educational seminars, resources and support for parents and families hosted/presented by the YMCA of the Triangle. Assists in the development and management of the budget for Family Programs through controlling costs, ordering of supplies and managing inventory at the highest standards. Supports branch Membership team by being fully capable to answer customer service questions from participants, including fully trained in proper use of PersonifyGo. Assists in the Annual Campaign by attending all events, recruiting and interacting with volunteers, and articulating case for giving. Serve as a role model for members, volunteers, children, and other staff members. Performs other duties not specifically outlined in this job descriptions as the demands of the Association might require.
QUALIFICATIONS
Prefers a baccalaureate undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with at least 4 years of youth and/or family programs experience. Models a commitment to the YMCA Mission, Cause, values and leadership competency model. Proven skills in human relations, relationship building and engagement, public speaking, program management, and volunteer development. Maintain necessary certifications including but not limited to CPR and First Aid. Demonstrates a broad understanding of Youth Development, Sports, Recreation and Outdoor Activities, and should be a competent leader in several such activities. Strong ability around marketing and communication for the vision of growth and improvement of Family engagement across the association. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Multi-lingual desired but not required.
