Job Description

Social Worker SAU 80, Shaker Regional School District Belmont, NH 03220 Responsible for ensuring that the emotional and social needs of the students in all of the Shaker Regional School District schools are met and maintained on an individual basis in accordance with policies and procedures, and current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations. Master’s level degree in social work required. NH DOE Certfication in School Social Worker or ability to obtain a Statement of Eligibility for same.1. Develop a comprehensive social history and psychosocial assessment that includes the student’s problems and strengths and preferences.2. Conduct and uses assessments and evaluation results to develop appropriate interventions for students, families and schools.3. Attend scheduled conference and identify and interpret psychosocial needs of students for inclusion in their educational plan, assressing in particular issues of schedule, treatment and environment that express and reinforce individuality and identity.4. Develop long-term and short-term intervention plans consistent with curriculum; students needs, strenths, diversity and life experiences; social and emotional factors.5. Assist students and their families to gain access to formal and informal community resources.6. Ameliorate emotional distress of students and families.7. Provide linkage with appropriate community resources by maintaining knowledge of other systems, making referrals and indentifying unmet needs.8. Consult on such issues as attendance, confidentiality, ethnicity and diversity, mental health, behavior management, discipline, crisis intervention and child abuse and neglect.9. Consult with staff regarding psycholsocial needs that impact education of students.10. Advocate on a case, policy and program level.11. Work with individual, groups and organizations that have diverse interests to develop programs or systems of care that support and enhance the health, social and emotional well-being and safety of students.1. Must be able to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with students, families, staff and support agencies.2. Must be able to relate to and work with emotionally upset and, at times, hostile people within the school.3. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.4. Maintain flexibility to coincide with individual school needs.5. Maintain valid NH Driver License.6. Maintain vehicle insurance in accordance with SRSD Policy EEBB.
