Family Advocate (Part Time) 4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars Keene, NH Part-Time Family Advocate – Head Start Program This position will begin in mid-August 2025 and follows a school-year calendar, with time off during the summer months.

Work day/time:

Mon, Tues, Thurs & Friday 8:30a-2:30p. Wednesday 10:30a-4p

About Us:

Southwestern Community Services (SCS) Head Start is a federally funded early childhood education program with five NAEYC-accredited centers. We are dedicated to promoting school readiness and providing comprehensive early childhood services to children from income-eligible families.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate Part Time Family Advocate who will work under the direction of the Family Servies and Community Partnerships Manager to ensure the families in our program are supported. Head Start promotes ongoing professional development, and Family Advocates are required to attend various training opportunities, staff meetings and cover in the classroom as needed. Family Advocates must become familiar with and adhere to NH State Child Care Licensing Rules and Head Start Performance Standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide ongoing support to Head Start families and children, helping them identify strengths, set goals, and connect to community resources. Support families through school referrals and transitions. Organize monthly family engagement activities like meetings, workshops, and training. Encourage parents to participate in their child’s education. Maintain the ChildPlus database with confidential child health and education records, contact notes, family goals, attendance, and program reports. Handle in-kind paperwork, monthly reports, and child health screenings. Associates required, Bachelor’s degree preferred in social work, Human Services, Family Services, Counseling, or a related field. Experience working with pre-school aged children and their families. Computer experience is a must. Must be willing to step into the classroom or kitchen when needed for coverage. Perform other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.
