About the Job Waypoint is looking for a passionate, self-motivated, forward-thinking individual to join in our mission of changing lives! Do you want to make a difference? The Street Outreach Specialist/Case Manager (SOP) provides low barrier, supportive services to young adults on the streets, in the community, and other places that at-risk young adults spend time. The SOP staff develops collaborative relationships with other youth/young adult serving agencies in the community so that we may expand our reach. SOP provides critical services, to include basic needs support and survival items, to enhance safety and protective factors. The SOP staff will also provide progressive case management support to youth/young adults once trust and relationships have been built. Family support and mediation can be necessary if reunification is a goal of the youth/young adult. SOP works with the team at the YRC to provide pro-social activities, and other activities that promote: 1) permanent connections; 2) physical and social and emotional well-being; 3) education and employment; and 4) safe and stable housing. Provide supervision and assistance to youth/young adults in Youth Resource drop-in Center, as needed. Partner with peer Outreach Staff during outreach and community activities.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
1-year related experience (lived experience and expertise looked upon favorably) Criminal background check required (previous carceral/legal experiences does not exclude from consideration). Experience with vulnerable populations, outreach, sexual health, behavioral health a plus.
Abilities Needed:
The ability to work on a team as well as independently in the community. Good organizational skills, time management skills, and the ability to multi-task, Self-motivated, enthusiastic, passionate about working with young adults, creative, innovative, bold, courageous, and brave.
