Program Director What Drives This Role:
The Safe Harbour Coordinator supports the delivery of services for youth at risk of commercial sexual exploitation and human trafficking. This entry-level position includes coordination of referrals, basic case management, volunteer engagement, and community outreach. The Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring youth are linked to appropriate services and that advocacy responses, including hospital-based engagement, are implemented in accordance with CAC protocols.
The Key Responsibilities of The Program Director:
Coordinate Safe Harbour Services:
Assist in identifying and referring youth at risk of commercial sexual exploitation. Support individualized service planning and coordinate basic case management in collaboration with multidisciplinary team (MDT) members.
Support SAFER Advocate Program:
Provide day-to-day coordination and guidance to volunteer SAFER Advocates, including scheduling, onboarding, and tracking of responses.
Hospital-Based Response Coordination:
Respond to or coordinate emergency advocacy responses to hospitals for child victims of abuse, assault, or trafficking, ensuring alignment with CAC policies.
Facilitate Service Linkages:
Help connect youth and their families with trauma-informed support services, including mental health care, shelter, legal assistance, and educational resources.
Outreach and Community Engagement:
Assist in delivering educational materials, participating in tabling events, and conducting presentations to raise awareness of child trafficking and the Safe Harbour initiative.
Reporting and Documentation:
Maintain accurate case notes, referral records, and service data. Contribute to monthly and quarterly reports to meet contract compliance and funder requirements.
Team Participation:
Attend MDT meetings, staff check-ins, and internal trainings. Collaborate with other CAC staff and partners to support smooth case coordination and follow-up.
Key Requirements For This Role:
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Human Services, Public Health, or a closely related field. At least one (1) year of experience (including internships or volunteer work) with youth, victims of abuse, or underserved populations. Interest in working with populations impacted by human trafficking, sexual abuse, and exploitation. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Valid NYS Driver’s License and reliable transportation. Must be able to pass all background checks, including Justice Center, child abuse registry, and criminal history. Bilingual (Spanish preferred) Familiarity with trauma-informed care or advocacy practices Experience in community outreach or education This position is based on-site in Bethpage, NY with some travel to hospitals and community events required. Some evening or weekend hours may be required for emergency response or outreach events.
