Position Type:

Full-Time (35 hours per week), Non-Exempt, Grant Based Position Summary The Youth Ambassador Coordinator will serve as part of the Herkimer County System of Care (SOC) team to engage youth and to ensure there is youth voice involvement and voice in the development and sustainability of the SOC efforts. Promotes the mission and vision of Herkimer County•System of Care values and principles of family driven care and are supporting families to be engaged in all aspects of the SOC at all levels, including planning, designing and execution of programming and events. This position is funded through a grant or contract arrangement with the government, school district or community partner that can change with limited notice and/or is subject to renewal on an annual basis

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Activities can include but not limited to any or all of the following depending on the need of the Herkimer County System of Care and the identified School districts: Meeting/Activity/Event Facilitation Organize & facilitate Youth Ambassador Council (YAC) Meetings; minimally monthly. Meet monthly to engage in the development, implementation, and evaluation of System of Care, ensuring youth voices shape the project (CLAS Standard 13) Create and facilitate minimally 3 youth driven/targeted activities per quarter for youth 0-21; collaborate with the System of Care Team and the Connected Community Schools Team to host events for Herkimer County Collaboration with SOC providers, School Faculty/Staff and Community Partners to identify and engage students, families and community members. Assist in preparation of the Annual Youth Summit in Herkimer County in collaboration with the Project Director and other SOC providers and community members as applicable. Support and engage SOC youth Ambassadors to attend. Coordination of programming/events materials. Facilitate Marketing of Youth Ambassador Council Meetings, Events and other programming related to System of Care (Distribution to Schools, social media etc.). Participate in SOC Planning Team Meetings as required, reporting out on deliverables Outreach and Engagement Targeted outreach and recruitment to engage youth ages 13-18, ensuring female youth and low-income children experiencing Serious Emotional Disturbance from multiple communities throughout Herkimer County are represented in the Council. Utilize School Districts as the single point of access to identify and outreach students to become members of the YAC. Cultivate a positive, supportive environment tailored to unique challenges by youth in the community Works with school district staff, including but not limited to district and building administration, guidance, and social work staff, to learn district wide policies and procedures, as well as building specific policies and procedures. Attends meetings with schools as needed. Become familiar with existing school resources and programs. Promotes and understands the nature of the SOC as well as the Connected Community Schools Model including all policy and procedures. Data Management/Reporting Data, Reporting & Quality oversight of all SOC deliverables regarding the Youth Advisory Council; minimally including meeting minutes, attendance/total # of students, demographics, topics discussed etc. Collaborates with the Divisional Director, System of Care Project Director and Evaluator to administer the National Outcomes Measures Assessment (NOMs) when required Provides reports minimally on a quarterly basis Recording and submitting meeting minutes as directed. Collect, track, and maintain System of Care data with the utilization of project-specific trackers and other applicable resources and produces appropriate weekly and monthly outcome data as directed by the Divisional Director and Leadership team. Training Expectations Complete satisfactorily the “One Trusted Adult Training” to incorporate its components into the role and engagement of youth and to facilitate training to Youth Ambassador Members throughout the council meetings. Complete satisfactorily the “Girls Circle Training and Mother/Daughter Circle Training” to facilitate or co-facilitate meetings and Girl Circles as a pre-requisite through SOC or an alternative provider. Universal Job Functions Establish a work environment that creates positive communication between supervisors and employees and assimilates new employees to the agency culture, values, and mission. Ensure compliance with all pertinent government and agency regulations and operating standards, including maintaining all required documentation and applicable databases. Assist with special projects as needed. All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of a High School Diploma with 5-10 years’ experience in a Human Service field. An Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s in Human Services Preferred (salary based on education and experience). Basic Computer Skills (Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel) Travel is required. Must have a valid NYS Driver’s License. Job related tasks do not involve exposure or potential exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue and Category I tasks are not a condition of employment. May have exposure to unpredictable individuals and situations when working at CCS sites, its affiliates or the community. OSHA Exposure Category

III PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Certain deadlines and unanticipated developments may require work during evenings and weekends can occur. Ability to quickly address any emergent issues without losing focus on the task at hand. The employee must have full sight and hearing with fluency in the English language. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk and sit. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine, scanner, computer printer, cell phone, etc. The employee will need to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
