Non-Supervisory About the Queens Museum The Queens Museum is dedicated to presenting the highest quality visual arts and educational programming for people in the New York metropolitan area, and particularly for the residents of Queens, a uniquely diverse, ethnic, cultural, and international community. The Museum fulfills its mission by designing and providing art exhibitions, public programs, and educational experiences that promote the appreciation and enjoyment of art, support the creative efforts of artists, and enhance the quality of life through interpreting, collecting, and exhibiting art, architecture, and design. Position Overview The Queens Museum will host Summer Camp Counselors five days per week for four weeks (July 7th to August 1st) in the Museum’s Education department, as well as two prep & staff orientation days on July 1st & 2nd from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Reporting to the Education Program Coordinator, the Summer Camp Counselors will assist the Education team through a range of support functions to facilitate a youth summer camp for participants aged 5 to 11. The QM’s Summer Youth Camps are curated to encourage exploration and introspection into the meanings of art and creative expression while creating new possibilities for culture, kinship, and mutual support. The counselors will receive on the job training and mentorship from the Education team in a highly supportive and collaborative environment and early career work experience supporting a multi-faceted Summer Camp program for youth ages 5 to 11. Essential Functions Assist in camp workshop planning and coordination with the Teaching Artists and Education Coordinators Assist in facilitating camp workshop activities, setting up artmaking materials for workshops and clean-up Create a friendly atmosphere and positive learning environment for all youth camp program participants General supervision of all campers in their assigned group, as well as the overall safety and support of all children attending camp; taking campers to the bathroom or walking with them to the galleries or the park.

Fluency in Spanish or Mandarin is a plus!
