Monday to Friday with weekends as needed. +

Compensation:

$22 per hour

Primary Purpose of Job:

The Family Engagement Specialist is responsible for identifying issues directly effecting the parenting time of non-custodial parents and provide direct program services to customers by implementing timely interventions to reduce and eliminate barriers so that parenting plans to transition families to self-monitored visitation can be implemented. The Family Engagement Specialist refocuses the communication between the non-custodial and custodial parents away from the conflict with each other to center on the best interests of their child.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

+ Monitor the child/family interactions during scheduled visits; maintain participant’s records. + Provide support services to facilitate a non-custodial parents’ increased parenting time with their children towards goal of transitioning family to self-managed access and visitation. + Supervises individual visits, and with the assistance of the Visit Specialists supervises group visiting as families’ progress through the program. + Provide direct program services to customers including assisting parents as they work through their interpersonal conflicts. + Assist in the delivery of parenting workshops and parenting plans. + Assist in visitation enforcement, development of goals, and make referrals to other providers as indicated by the needs of the customers + Collect participant fees; prepare fees for submission to Program Director. + Maintain ongoing communication regarding scheduling appointments, returning phone calls and court hearing updates. + Prepare and submit reports on assigned cases for the court. + Communicate with judges, referees, law guardians, and DSS caseworkers regarding program participants as well as presenting to community referral sources. + Assist Program Director in supervision of and scheduling of Visit Specialist; monitor and submit prepared timesheets. + Prepare, maintain, and submit statistical reports to Program Director. + Conduct pre/post visitation interviews/intakes/orientations as needed; provide participants with appropriate referrals as needed. + Attend training to stay informed of current research and best practices in the field. + Monitor cleanliness of visitation rooms. + Perform all other relevant duties as determined by Supervision and

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:

+ High School diploma or educational equivalent required, a degree in a related field preferred. + Minimum of one year experience working with families required. Must be willing to work weekends as needed. + Must have good communication skills, both oral and written; must have the ability to work cooperatively with the department of social service professionals and other professionals interfacing with program clients. + Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, and email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments. + Must have access to a vehicle and possess valid New York State Drivers License.
