We have one full-time position; Monday-Friday, 4pm-Midnight, and various weekend/part-time and per diem(as needed) shifts available . Our shelters operate 24/7/365. Please note that before employment can start, clearance must be obtained through the Dept. of Social Services; background check, CPS history, State Central Registry. The Shelter worker is responsible for monitoring the activities of residents of the shelter and to ensure compliance with program rules and expectations. He/she is also responsible for ensuring the safety of residents and the security and sanitation of the program. Job requires lifting up to 30 lbs. frequently, and experience with handling minor maintenance issues, such as changing filters, light bulbs, cleaning and organizing of pantry and storage areas, and other household-type chores as needed. Experience in a related field is not necessary but is helpful. Summary As a Women’s Homeless Shelter Worker, you will be vital in providing support and assistance to women experiencing homelessness. Reporting to the Program Manager, your skills in intake and communication will create effective interactions with clients. You will practice skills such as crisis intervention and conflict management to address the diverse needs of our residents.
