Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the Westchester Educational Opportunity Center (WEOC) Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, the Adjunct Counselor/Social Worker will: Administer and interpret interest, aptitude, and intelligence tests, and conduct interviews to obtain information about personal, academic, and work histories to determine students’ placement in programs and their service needs;
Provide guidance and counseling related to personal, mental health, academic, and work matters, and offer appropriate referrals to mental health services when necessary;
Develop and monitor progress toward achieving educational and career plans with students;
Provide crisis intervention and mental health support when indicated;
Monitor and evaluate students’ progress in class and take appropriate action to address any concerns;
Document counseling, case management, educational and career planning, mental health interventions, and other student services in student files, as appropriate.
Work evenings, as needed.
All other duties, as assigned.

Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate must possess one of the following: A Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Guidance Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, or a closely related field and one year of professional experience;
A Bachelor’s degree in Guidance Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, or a closely related field and three (3) years’ experience;
A Bachelor’s degree in a non-specific field and 2 years of experience, along with a Master’s degree in Guidance Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, or a closely related field. Candidates must also hold a valid licensure in social work, mental health counseling, or a related field. The successful candidate will also have demonstrated experience with case management, advising, and guidance/intervention services, excellent organizational, verbal/written communication, and teamwork skills. Experience working in a diverse and fast-paced environment as well as ability to navigate technology and online application/enrollment systems is required. All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of first-generation community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 Strongly preferred qualifications include the following: Two years of professional experience working with non-traditional adult learners.
Experience with Banner student database or similar system.
Knowledge of online learning systems.
Familiarity with educational and vocational training programs.
Experience developing and facilitating educational workshops/seminars

Additional Information:
POSITION EFFECTIVE

 The position will remain open until filled.

HOURLY RATE OF PAY

$51.50 per hour. No benefits. This is a grant funded position.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position requires a three-day workweek totaling 21 hours (two days 9:00am – 5:00pm; one day 12:00pm – 8:00pm).
