Role:
The Caseworker – Truancy Specialist plays a crucial role in addressing and reducing student absenteeism within the educational system. This position involves working closely with students, families, and educational institutions to identify the underlying causes of truancy and develop effective intervention strategies. The caseworker will be responsible for creating individualized action plans that promote regular school attendance and support students in overcoming barriers to education. By collaborating with school personnel, Magisterial District Justices, community resources and families, the Caseworker will help foster a supportive environment that encourages success. Ultimately, the goal of this role is to ensure that students remain engaged in their education and achieve their full potential.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree that includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits n social work, sociology, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice or another related field. To qualify as a Caseworker 2, the candidate must meet the following requirements: Experience as a County Caseworker Intern through completion of the CWEB program with a BA degree in Social Work or related field; or One year experience as a County Caseworker 1 with a direct service worker certificate, a bachelor’s degree that includes or supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social science; or One year experience of professional social casework experience in a public or private social services agency with a bachelor’s degree in a related field that includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social work, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related field.
Responsibilities:
Ensure confidentiality Committed to engaging and including families in plan development and have a working knowledge if family engagement processes. Knowledge of community resources to enhance the Caseworker’s ability to connect families with additional support services. Work a flexible schedule, often non-traditional hours to accomodate the needs of the school and family. Testify in judicial and quasi-judicial proceedings Conduct presentations, trainings, group activities, and other public relation work as needed. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, which are essential for building rapport with students and families. Clearances required to obtain prior to hire (see attachment for further explanation): Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 33) Pennsylvania State Police Request for Criminal Records Check (Act 34) FBI Criminal Background Check (Act 73)

Compensation:
