OVERVIEW
As a member of the school’s Student Services team, the School Social Worker helps to ensure that supports are in place to ensure each child’s success. This includes, but is not limited to, family engagement for school-based support, collaboration with community agencies in securing needed resources for unhoused students and families, participation in school-wide support teams, and collaboration with school administration. Candidates should be energetic and progressive minded, with a willingness to work collaboratively with all educators at the campus. Key Responsibilities Communicate regularly with families to develop a supportive home-school relationship Help families and students access school and community resource Conduct home/community visits with families Communicate with outside service providers, including short-term mental health placements, and drug/alcohol treatment center Collaborate with staff and families to make referrals for mental health support Support families to ensure that student basic needs are met and families are connected to appropriate resources Respond to student or family crisis situations as needed, with appropriate urgency Complete student safety/suicide risk assessments and threat assessments as needed, responding with appropriate urgency Act as a mandated reporter and complete or support other staff in completing Childline reports in response to allegations of abuse as needed Provide individual counseling, group counseling, and check-in support to students Develop classroom behavior and student intervention plans in conjunction with school counselor, school psychologist, and teachers Collaborate with student services, administrators, staff, and school-based team Participate in SAP, MTSS, Crisis Team, and IEP meetings and other school-based teams Educational Background and Work Experience Master’s degree in social work from an accredited institution Current license as a social worker (LSW) or licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in PA Minimum of 3-5 years school social work experience preferred Familiarity with charter schools and high school-aged students Compensation and Benefits Minimum starting salary of $47,263 with consideration given for prior relevant experience Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-, and long-term disability insurance, generous paid time off, and participation in a generous 403b retirement plan.
