POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Social Worker 2, you will serve as a coordinator for the Dementia Specialty Unit. In this role, you will assess, design, and implement appropriate behavioral and psychosocial interventions for the residents. You will offer consultation and education to other disciplines and develop the Dementia Unit program. Additionally, you will serve as a consultant to other social workers, helping them manage resident obstacles related to dementia. As part of this consultation, you will prioritize and assign specific tasks for social workers to carry out, ensuring compliance with federal guidelines for serving veterans with dementia. Furthermore, you will direct a supportive family and significant other group, open to all friends and family members of residents with dementia. The purpose of this group is to provide education and mutual emotional support for loved ones coping with the challenges of dementia. Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Work hours and schedule may change based on operational needs.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or Forensic Social Worker 1 (commonwealth titles) (must have been employed in a commonwealth social worker job title on September 8, 2008, with continuous commonwealth employment); or
Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or a Forensic Social Worker 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) and a bachelor’s degree in social work or social welfare; or
Two years of professional experience providing direct public or private social work services, and a bachelor’s degree in social work or social welfare; or
A master’s degree in social work or social welfare.
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Special Requirement:

This position requires an active license as a Social Worker or Clinical Social Worker issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors.
