VOLUNTEER SERVICES COORDINATOR

FULL TIME DAYS

Summary Recruits, screens, trains, assigns, and supervises volunteers to meet hospice patient/family requests. Provides hospice-specific orientation in patients’ homes and in the in-patient unit. Coordinates participation in health fairs and other hospice-related programs. Job Duties Oversees recruitment, orientation, training, retention, and evaluation of volunteers. Identifies and facilitates outcome-based quality improvement initiatives to improve volunteer programs and services. Conducts field evaluations of volunteers providing support and feedback based on evaluation of patient visits. Coordinates and/or participates in recognition events in support of hospice services. Develops and implements training and support programs and materials for volunteer programs. Develops support activities including support groups, education and in-services, and recognition activities. Coordinates the planning and enhancement of initiatives to increase utilization of volunteers. Supervises preparation and maintenance of volunteer reports and statistics. Develops and writes patient care plans as they relate to volunteer duties on IPU and in Hospice home program. Oversees collection, storage, and retrieval of volunteer data. Provides assigned volunteers with updates regarding pertinent changes in both psychosocial and medical aspects of care. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma/GED 3 years Management and or supervision. Knowledge and ability to extract key data elements from LVHN data systems and software programs, including MS Word. Preferred Qualifications Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Sociology, Human Services, Social Services, or related field Physical Demands Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use,

  • patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
