This position is expected to report in-person to the admin hub 1-4 times per month.
Travel & Drive Time:
This position requires community-based “in the field” work; approximately 35-50% of each week will be spent traveling locally/regionally. No routine out-of-state or multi-day travel is projected. HALOS will verify driving records and driver’s license at least annually.

Eligible Organizational Background HALOS, founded in 1997 and incorporated in 2003, equips kinship caregivers for success, provides resources that support safe and thriving children, and advocates for a kin-first South Carolina. HALOS is a growing nonprofit, providing services regionally in the Lowcountry. HALOS meets the needs of kinship families through specialized navigation services, intensive coaching services, and an array of supportive services such as support groups and access to concrete items such as school supplies, holiday gifts, beds, and much more. Position Summary The Family Resource Coordinator is the initial point of contact for kinship families seeking specialized services through HALOS. This position conducts assessments, schedules intakes, and coordinates resources for caregivers and families to support stability, safety and well-being.
Essential Functions of Position Note:

Use program software to identify a caller’s current program status (if applicable) and route the call appropriately. In alignment with the Foster Kinship model of navigation and using a Family Resource Center framework, provide information and referral services to any kinship family. Receive and review all referrals to HALOS to ensure required information is included; maintain accurate intake records. Make contact with referred families within the time frame established by the program model. During an assigned shift, have the ability to effectively coordinate phone calls, emails, appointments, and scheduled follow-ups. Demonstrate a strong understanding of all resources available to kinship families as well as non-kinship families in order to serve as a primary provider of information and referrals. Obtain necessary consents and other forms; assess families using approved assessment tools; schedule intake appointments. Maintain detailed records by creating and reviewing case notes, logging actions, etc. with fidelity to the evidence-based model. Serve as the primary contact and coordinator for the ordering of concrete supports (beds, mattresses, car seats, etc.) and the tracking of economic supports (i.e., emergency financial assistance). Assist Family Advocates when required to deliver routine concrete supports to eligible kinship families and follow established crisis response protocols as necessary. Regularly staff cases with the program department to conduct fidelity checks and share performance feedback. Maintain positive and professional relationships with community partners (such as DSS, family court, etc.) and follow up regularly and respectfully with partners; ensure key referral sources have up-to-date referral information. Attend community partner and outreach events as scheduled. Assist with family events for kinship families as scheduled. Participate in other HALOS initiatives, as requested and as time and interest allow. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Excellent communication, organization, problem solving, time management, and follow-up skills Creative problem solver with exception attention to detail in documentation A compassionate and non-judgmental approach in communication with adults and children of all backgrounds and experiences; engages with families using a trauma-informed framework Ability to problem solve, engage quickly and effectively with written materials, and demonstrate a strong attention to detail Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment as well as the stamina to remain seated and maintain concentration for an extended period of time Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone Able to successfully work in a remote-first environment with HALOS supplying any required equipment or supplies for home-based work. Desirable Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher Knowledge of child welfare and kinship care issues and/or social work training Lived experience with kinship care or foster care Bilingual in English and Spanish Experience with Microsoft Office/365 tools, Salesforce, other databases
