School-based Counselor Lee County 2.9 2.9 out of 5 stars Lee County, SC Job Responsibilities With our Agency’s mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina. This position is located at the SC Dept. of Mental Health at Santee-Wateree Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) at the Bishopville Clinic located at 134 E. Church Street, Bishopville, S.C. 29010. Under general supervision, provides services to seriously emotionally disturbed children, adolescents, and their families primarily in a school setting. Provides training and consultation to school personnel on issues pertinent to the mental health of the students. Provides direct treatment and case management services to seriously emotionally disturbed children, adolescents and their families, which may include, but is not limited to: Rehabilitative Psychosocial Support (RPS), Family Support Services, Behavior Modification and other services that the staff member is credentialled to provide. Services will be provided in a culturally sensitive manner. Serves as a Behavioral Health Liaison between schools and the Community Mental Health Center, working in close collaboration with SCDMH staff. Provides education about mental health and mental health services to staff, students and families. Works with youth and families to identify their mental health needs and makes appropriate referrals. Maintains medical records documentation standards in accordance with QA, DHHS, DMH, and CARF policies and procedures. Participates in treatment team staffing’s, supervisory conferences, and general staff meeting focused on clinical and Center related issues and shares concerns, observations, and issues regarding assigned patients. Follows all Fire and Safety Compliance policies and procedures. Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities in all stated areas. Travel throughout the Santee-Wateree CMHC catchment area as directed.
Minimum and Additional Requirements State Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in guidance, counseling, or the social sciences and professional experience in human services or social services programs.
