The primary goal of the SIOT is to expand each child’s learning opportunities and promote meaningful progress across developmental domains. In this role, you’ll partner with families and caregivers to embed learning strategies into the child’s natural routines and environments (e.g., home, preschool, or community settings). Through a relationship-based coaching approach, you’ll help caregivers feel confident and empowered to support their child’s growth in everyday moments. SIOTs also play an essential role in conducting developmentally appropriate assessments and using the results to guide individualized service delivery. Home visits are a central part of this work, and flexible scheduling—including some evenings or weekends—may be necessary to accommodate family routines. This role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, culturally responsive, and skilled in both verbal and written communication. Special Instructors aim to nurture strong, collaborative relationships with families and to promote developmental outcomes that reflect each child’s unique strengths and potential. Above all, SIOTs are committed to making a positive, lasting difference in the lives of the children and families they serve.
