Job Title:
Family Champion- McNairy, Hardin, Chester Counties Location:
This position will have the potential to serve Henderson and Decatur Counties. Territories are subject to change based on community need.

Director of Early Childhood Initiatives Job Description:
The Family Champion plays a critical role in supporting families in need across West Tennessee, with a focus on addressing chronic poverty and toxic stress. The primary responsibilities of the Family Champion include building and maintaining partnerships with childcare providers, providing family coaching and trainings, making referrals for resources such as social services, physical and mental health care, and connecting families to employment, financial counseling, and continuing education opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
Family Coaching:
Provide personalized coaching to families, focusing on building skills and resilience to overcome challenges related to financial constraints and toxic stress.
Resource Referrals:
Connect families with resources in the community, including social services, health care, and other support programs.
Employment and Education:
Assist families in accessing employment and continuing education opportunities to improve their financial stability.
Financial Counseling:
Ensure that each adult served is connected with the Financial Empowerment Center for at least one financial coaching session.
Community Engagement:
Collaborate with industry partners, childcare centers, community-based organizations, and other resources to support families effectively. 211
Call Assistance:
Answer emergency 211 calls, keep an updated resource directory, and assist with related programming as needed.
Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, education, family and consumer sciences, or related field (preferred) High School diploma or equivalent required Experience working with families in need, particularly those facing challenges related to poverty and toxic stress Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with diverse populations Knowledge of community resources and social services
Travel Requirements:
The position requires travel to the United Way of West TN office in Jackson for training and as needed for meetings. Travel within the 15 counties in the service area may also be required.
