Job Description

PE/Vocational Coordinator-School for Autism 3.4 3.4 out of 5 stars 900 Trotwood Avenue, Columbia, TN 38401 The King’s Daughters’ School is a private, year-round residential school for individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism located in Columbia, TN. Coordinator to work in a classroom teaching students ages 7-22 with intellectual disabilities and autism. Class focus is adaptive P.E., behavioral goals and vocational skills. Students are in non-graded classes but do have goal work. Position is full-time Mon-Fri 1st shift. Minimum qualifications At least 21 years old Bachelor’s degree required Valid Driver’s license required Successful completion of pre-employment background screens, drug screen and TB skin test. (We can’t hire anyone with felony convictions or abuse/assault convictions) Be in good health and free of mental and/or physical limitations which would interfere in dealing appropriately with the client’s handicapping conditions and behavior disorders. Ability to kneel, bend and clean on knees; move furniture and lift items that weigh at least 40 lbs At least one year of training or experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.

Essential Duties:

Provide a clean, warm, and inviting classroom setting that results in a positive learning environment. To assess each student and use those assessments to build focused curriculum that is pertinent to abilities, motivating and builds upon student goals established in ISP. To create and implement lesson plans in accordance with Focus Area. Provide hands-on modeling for classroom assistants in all areas of student interaction as well as set the example for professional work communication. To instruct students daily, ensuring student engagement and skill acquisition.
