Family and Community Engagement Coordinator Otter Creek Child Center Middlebury, VT 05753 Summary The Family Engagement and Community Services Coordinator at Otter Creek Child Center (OCCC) will play a pivotal role in fostering strong partnerships between families, the center, and the broader Addison County community. This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that promote family involvement, ensuring families have access to necessary community resources, and supporting the center’s mission to provide inclusive, high-quality early care and education. Duties Key Responsibilities Family Engagement Develop and execute a comprehensive family engagement plan that aligns with OCCC’s mission and values. Organize and facilitate workshops, events, and activities that promote family involvement and early childhood development, for the whole center, individual classrooms, and age-group specific. Supporting teachers in conducting family conferences to build trust and support family needs. Community Services Coordination for Families Identify and maintain a directory of local community resources and services available to families. Establish and nurture partnerships with local agencies and organizations to enhance service delivery. Coordinate referrals and follow-ups to ensure families receive appropriate services. Community Services Coordination for Programing Identify and maintain a directory of local community resources and services available to classrooms. Establish and nurture partnerships with local agencies and organizations to enhance curriculum. Coordinate with teachers, community engagement activities that are center wide, individual classrooms, or age-group specific. Communication & Advocacy Serve as a liaison between families and the program, ensuring effective and culturally responsive communication. Advocate for family needs within the program and community context. Support families in understanding their rights and navigating systems such as education, healthcare, and social services. Manage the web site and social media accounts. Collaborate on creating regular newsletters. Enrollment & Outreach Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective families: respond to inquiries, schedule and conduct tours, and provide program information. Maintain accurate and up-to-date enrollment records and waitlists. Collaborate with the Program Directors on admissions decisions and classroom placements. Track availability and enrollment trends to support staffing and planning decisions. Assist with outreach efforts and community engagement to promote the program and maintain full enrollment. Data & Compliance Maintain accurate records of family engagement activities and services provided. Assist with data collection and reporting for compliance with state and federal requirements. Participate in family and community needs assessments and program evaluations. Maintain children records both virtual and hard copies. Collaboration & Team Support Work closely with teaching staff, administrators, and support personnel to integrate family and community engagement into all aspects of the program. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and professional development activities. Assume duties of Teachers as needed during their absence. Requirements Additional Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Early Childhood Education, Family Studies, or a related field. Two or more years of experience working with families in early childhood or community-based settings. Experience working with diverse and underserved populations. Skills & Abilities Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to build trust and maintain confidentiality. Knowledge of local community resources and systems of care. Bilingual (English/Spanish or other languages) preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office and data management systems. Other Requirements Ability to pass background checks including fingerprinting. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Active participation in classrooms, including sitting on the floor and outdoor play. Ability to move easily between administrative tasks and classroom engagement throughout the day. Occasional evening or weekend hours for family events or outreach.
