Description of Work Position is a Clinical Social Worker located at Central Prison Healthcare complex in Raleigh, which houses approximately 1318 close custody male offenders. The LCSW or LCSW-A reports directly to the Licensed Clinical Social Worker Supervisor. LCSW Associate or provisionally licensed LCSW’s may be considered for this position under the current trainee progression. Salary advancement into the appropriate pay scale will be evaluated upon receipt of full licensure: The social worker clinical (LCSW) position is responsible for, but is not limited to the following duties:

  • Completion of bio psychosocial assessments, treatment planning to include the development of treatment goals and appropriate interventions, assisting with discharge/release planning for offenders, and providing individual therapy and group therapy as indicated;
  • Must exhibit the ability to perform duties independently with limited supervision;
  • Oversee cases involving specialized populations, such as severely and persistently mentally ill; severe medical conditions to include terminally ill, permanently disabled, HIV/AIDs; and intellectual developmental disabilities;
  • Gather relevant information to the offender’s care from appropriate resources, such as previous health records and accounts from family members with the offender’s consent;
  • Assist with aftercare planning for offenders preparing to be released from prison;
  • Assist with the DPS Medicaid Program by completing Medicaid applications for referrals from the Medicaid Program Supervisor; Act as an advocate for offenders who medical or behavioral health condition inhibits them from requesting accommodations for the ADA Program that may be available to the offender.
  • This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.
