CORE JOB REQUIREMENTS

Work with the Behavioral Health Prevention Director and prevention department team to develop annual prevention plans and implement program services and activities. Ensure funding compliance and that all annual prevention plan goals and objectives are met Facilitate prevention education classes using evidenced-based curriculum and conduct presentations to youth, parents, and other community stakeholders Maintain documentation to include participant permission forms, group attendance to ensure that participants complete all session of the curriculum, documentation for each session and required strategy as required by program funders Coordinate and establish community resources to ensure appropriate referrals are made Attend and participate in school and community events and activities to promote substance misuse prevention messages and services and create awareness of resources available in the community Participate in coalitions and other community collaborative networks addressing behavioral health issues Complete required billing documentations and report progress and activities to the Director and funders on a regular basis Develop and maintain relationships between public, civic, professional, and voluntary agencies Demonstrate excellent organization, written and oral skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment Other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a human services field with three (3) years of experience providing at least one of the following: substance abuse prevention or treatment services, health promotion services, school services, human services, community organization- Experience may be cumulative Experience in group facilitation, public speaking, and implementing programs and activities individually and on a team Advanced user of Microsoft Office, knowledge of other software applications (e.g., desktop publishing, etc.…) Preferred knowledge of the substance abuse risk and protective factor model; the principles of human behavior modification; substance abuse prevention and treatment terminology, methodology, organization, and practices Associate Prevention Specialist Certification is required for this position after 1 1/2 years of employment Regularly works in assigned counties, sits at a desk, drives a motor vehicle, and lifts or moves objects weighing up to 50 pounds Works for sustained periods of time maintaining concentrated attention to detail

WORKING CONDITIONS

Flexibility and ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary to achieve the objectives of the program Work requires traveling using agency and/or personal vehicle- Mileage reimbursement is provided Valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance required Prior to hire, employees are required to pass background and drug screens.
