WEEKEND

AND EVENING ADULT RESIDENTIAL COUNSELOR REPORTS TO

DIRECTOR

OF ADULT RESIDENTIAL SERVICES POSITION OBJECTIVES

Provide both direct and indirect services to patients in the adult residential treatment program during evening hours. Work within a multidisciplinary treatment team and with community providers from a ROSC approach to ensure patient needs are met and discharge plans are appropriate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1.

Facilitate psychoeducational groups in the residential community on a variety of topics related to substance use treatment. 2. Provide assessments for all eligible patients. 3. Perform behavioral interventions with patients when primary counselors are not present. 4. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. 5. Act as backup for other departments when primary counselors are not present. 6. Ensure quality internal and external customer care and service. 7. Provide individual sessions as needed. 8. Develop patient treatment plans using evidence-based practices. 9. Review and evaluate patients’ progress in relation to measurable goals described in treatment plans. 10. Participate in case conferences and staff meetings. 11. Plan and implement discharge plans. 12. Make appropriate referrals when necessary. 13. Coordinate activities with courts, probation officers, community services and other referral sources. 14. Provide suicide risk screening and make recommendations. 15. Ensure completeness and timeliness of clinical documents and administrative forms to meet all credentialing and accreditation standards. 16. Demonstrate flexibility as a team member and promote a positive working environment, including collaborating with Gateway’s other programs. 17. Make an attempt to contact the informal supports (ie: family) of each patient to gather corroborating information, if applicable 18. Provide feedback to referral sources (PRN, Child Welfare, Probation, etc.) regularly. 19. Train new staff members as needed. 20. Perform peer review assessments monthly 21. Attend Medical Staffing with Medical Director and Triage meetings 22. Perform special projects and other Agency related assignments as requested. 23. Assist Director of Adult Residential Services as needed.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES OF A QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL

(CAP, MCAP, LMHC, LCSW, LMFT, ETC.) QP of Charts, Assessments (BPSA, GAIN), MTPs, and TPRs Provide services to patients who have private insurance to include group, day treatment, individual sessions, etc. Complete all documentation meeting the standards required for private insurance plans Act as a member of the Crisis Intervention Team completing Risk assessments and Baker Acts as needed Supervision of staff and interns needing licensed supervision.

Must pass required background investigation. 2. Must complete all required and assigned trainings. 3. Must abide by Agency’s Code of Ethics, Agency Standards, Policy and Procedures Manuals. 4. Must practice universal precautions as part of regular job duties whenever applicable. 5. Must possess competencies required to effectively understand and deal with population served. 6. Must be able to perform assigned work independently with minimal supervision. 7. Timely and regularly complete all required documentation, reports, and other Agency related paperwork. 8. Ability to function as an effective team member. 9. Maintain the work area in a clean and orderly condition. 10. Ensure safe operating conditions within the area of responsibility. 11. Must not engage in behaviors that erode the cohesiveness of the program staff.

QUALIFICATIONS FORMAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
  • Masters degree in related field and 2 years experience in the treatment of behavioral health disorders
  • CAP Preferred
  • License (LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, etc) Preferred SKILLS
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • Ability to engage in critical thinking.
  • Ability to formulate professional clinical reports.
  • Must possess time management skills.
  • Ability to help with problems areas without being overly critical.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to emergencies and life threatening situations in an appropriate manner.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills.
  • Ability to relate to adolescents, adults, families, referral sources and internal Gateway Team Members and must possess requisite competencies to effectively understand and provide appropriate services to the client population served.
  • Ability to relate and present to groups.
