The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in behavioral health and mental health counseling, with a focus on supporting students’ emotional, social, and academic development. As a School Counselor, you will play a critical role in fostering a safe and supportive environment for all students, helping them navigate challenges and achieve their full potential. Responsibilities Provide individual and group counseling to students dealing with personal, social, or academic issues. Conduct behavioral assessments and diagnostic evaluations to identify student needs. Develop and implement behavior management plans tailored to individual student requirements. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to create a supportive educational environment. Facilitate crisis intervention services for students experiencing acute emotional distress or trauma. Maintain accurate medical documentation of student interactions and counseling sessions. Offer guidance on college readiness, career exploration, and personal development. Promote mental health awareness through workshops and educational programs within the school community. Provide support for students dealing with PTSD or other trauma-related issues. Qualifications Bacholors degree in School Counseling, Social Work, or a related field (required). Valid state certification or licensure in school counseling or mental health counseling. Experience in child family counseling and crisis intervention preferred. Strong understanding of behavioral health principles and practices. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to build rapport with students, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds. Proficient in medical documentation practices related to counseling services. Knowledge of resources available for mental health support within the community.
