Certified Peer Support Specialist Nygil M. Cullins Recovery Treatment Center 283 Grant Avenue, Macon, GA 31201 Overview The Nygil M. Cullins Community Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. This role is vital in providing support and guidance to individuals facing mental health challenges or substance use disorders. As a Certified Peer Specialist, you will leverage your lived experiences to foster hope, resilience, and recovery in others, while promoting a supportive environment that encourages personal growth. Duties Provide one-on-one mentoring and support to individuals navigating their recovery journey. Facilitate crisis intervention and management strategies to ensure client safety and well-being. Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to empower clients in setting and achieving their personal goals. Assist clients in understanding behavioral health systems and accessing necessary resources. Conduct group sessions focused on skill-building, coping strategies, and peer support. Collaborate with mental health professionals to develop individualized care plans tailored to client needs. Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in compliance with organizational policies. Advocate for clients’ rights and needs within the behavioral health system. Qualifications Certification as a Peer Specialist is required. Experience in mentoring or providing peer support within mental health or addiction counseling settings is preferred. Strong knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and crisis management principles. Familiarity with behavioral health systems, social work practices, and addiction counseling methodologies. Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations. Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience, and understanding while working with clients facing challenges. Commitment to ongoing professional development in the fields of mental health and addiction recovery.
