School Counselor Part-Time School Year 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars 492 Holmes Road, Pittsfield, MA 01201 20 hours per week Applications Accepted Starting 6/16/2025 Application Review Starting 6/25/2025 The School Counselor helps students to manage the social, emotional, and personal challenges of adolescent development. Through individual counseling and all-school programming, the School Counselor supports students in developing wellness, personal awareness, and skills for life. Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling to students in need of support with school adjustment, interpersonal conflicts, academic challenges, and/or mental health concerns
- Collaborate with the Dean of Wellness and the Health & Wellness team to develop and deliver proactive programming that encourages a safe and healthy school environment
- Respond to urgent student mental health concerns; perform risk assessments and coordinate plans for student safety, including referrals and care coordination
- Build relationships and maintain collaborative communication with advisors, faculty, caregivers, and off-campus mental health providers in support of students
- Participate in ongoing learning in relevant fields and counseling trends; keep informed of changes in laws and regulations related to mental health and/or education
- Work with the Health & Wellness team to ensure continuous on-call emergency mental health coverage while students are at the
School Qualifications:
- Master’s degree, with Massachusetts LCSW, LMHC, School Counselor, or School Adjustment Counselor licensure required
- Demonstrated effectiveness counseling adolescents and recognition of appropriate boundaries in working with adolescents
- Demonstrated experience with and commitment to student success and diversity, including race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, gender identity, etc.
- Sound judgment and experience addressing sensitive and urgent emotional issues
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, family members, and members of the public in a diverse population
- Ability to quickly learn and navigate student information systems and online platforms
- Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion and to serving a diverse, global community
