Position number 463-41-102 Salary offers will be commensurate with experience, education, and equity with others in the agency upon hire. Granville Vance Public Health is currently accepting applications for one (1) Full-time Human Services Clinical Counselor-II position to work in our Granville and Vance counties.

THE PRIMARY PURPOSE

: The primary purpose of this position is to utilize the specialized skills of a behavioral health professional to independently provide brief screening and intervention as well as intensive therapeutic assessments and varied treatments to clients and/or families with mild to severe medical or emotional challenges. Services include mental health assessments, independent selection and use of behavioral therapies for cases requiring on-going treatment, case management, collaboration with psychiatric and primary care specialists, and small group facilitation. Work may include serving as the designated clinical consultant. Work often includes representing the department in contact with other agencies, serving on local committees, providing didactic community consultation and education, and participating in grant-funded integrated care work in the health department. This position requires specialized and in-depth knowledge of principles and practices of public health.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in human services field from an accredited institution and 2 years of counseling/therapy experience in areas such as rehabilitation counseling, professional counseling, pastoral counseling, marriage and family therapy, child life program, or related human services field that provides the experience in techniques of counseling and therapeutic assessments, one of which must be supervised; or bachelor’s degree in human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and 3 years of related human services counseling or therapy experience with the above experience, one of which must have been supervised; or an equivalent combination of education / experience.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

Preferred applicants will be fully Licensed in the field of Clinical Social Work, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) or other professional mental health field, and have experience in clinical counseling for all ages and experience working with historically marginalized populations. Substance use treatment experience is also preferred.
